It’s official – refrigerator recycling has finally made it big.
And by big, I mean the New York Times big.
Recently, the New York Times covered the hot topic of refrigerator recycling and its environmental benefits. What’s most impressive is the fact that this article covers how coolant is extracted from the foam that’s inside of each refrigerator. Did you know that your refrigerator is full of foam insulation? Each refrigerator has approximately 10 pounds of foam inside. Usually the foam will end up in a land fill, however as the article states, there are companies such as ARCA and JACO Environmental who go above and beyond the standard for recycling.
Kudos to them.
